Don't Commit Search Engine Suicide. It's Just Not Worth It.

Apart from maybe getting a hungover KFC and biting into what's clearly a chicken foot (heeuurrgghh), nothing is worse than languishing on page 83,985 of Google. It's just the worst. As is seeing your ranking slip from respectable into the abyss of the forgotten. Either way, it sucks. Thankfully, all you have to do is read on to discover whether or not you are committing search engine suicide and what you need to do in order to make some very necessary changes,

You have not gone back to your SEO strategy since you implemented it – the online world never remains stagnant, and so you cannot afford to either. Your SEO strategy is something that needs to be visited on a regular basis to ensure that it is updated and that you remain ahead of the game.

You are not using analytics – This links to the former point, but how do you expect your SEO campaign to harvest results if you aren’t actually measuring these results to begin with? The only way to get better is to use the data that is available to you to determine how your campaign is performing at present.

You are still keyword stuffing – Not only is keyword stuffing an outdated practice that lost its effectiveness years ago, but it is a black hat technique, which means you will get punished by Google for using this approach.

You are handling in SEO in-house yet you do not have the experience – It is understandable that you would want to keep SEO in-house in order to keep your costs low. Nevertheless, it is important to recognise that hiring a SEO company is an investment. A quality marketing agency will make you more money in the long run by ensuring you are visible on the search engine result pages and that your conversation rate is high.

You assume SEO is only about links and keywords – This could not be further from the truth. While both factors are incredibly important, it all comes down to the user experience. No matter how good your keywords or link strategy are, if your website is slow and difficult to use, your ranking is going to suffer as a consequence.

You are writing content for search engine bots – You need to write content for your readers, rather than SEO bots. Your content needs to be relevant and it needs to add value. It should be original, interesting, and engaging. Don’t write for a machine. This is another strategy that is not only outdated but damaging too.

If you have noticed any of the signs that have been mentioned above, it is important to make some changes to your SEO strategy as you could be causing more harm than you realise. Follow the advice that has been provided and you can stop your search engine ranking from deteriorating in the future.
